About This Video
This video represents some of the early Barracuda Virtual Reactor validation efforts performed more than a decade ago. The CFD simulation results are shown on the left compared with a transparent cold-flow fluidized bed of Geldart Group B particles on the right. A gas jet enters from the left of each frame at 10s. While the physics in this example are relatively simple compared with most Virtual Reactor simulations (no heat transfer or chemical reactions), this type of bed expansion, jet-penetration, bubble size, and bubble frequency validation is critical to capturing the underlying gas-particle hydrodynamics present in chemical reactors and other fluidization-based systems.
