PSRI, a CPFD Strategic Partner, is an international consortium of companies focused on the advancement of multiphase flows technology with granular and granular-fluid systems. Since 1971, PSRI has amassed a prolific amount of design data, technology, know-how, design criteria and models on all aspects of slurries, liquid injection, fluidization, entrainment, pneumatic conveying, attrition, erosion, distributor design, standpipes, solids transfer, and circulating fluidized beds. From the data produced, PSRI has developed design correlations, models, procedures, methods and techniques which are among the best and most useful in the field. CPFD has been a member of PSRI since 2006.

CUWP, Chemical Upcycling of Waste Plastics is a 10MM multi-university center funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office, part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The center is under the direction of Richard L. Antoine Professor George Huber in the University of Wisconsin – Madison Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. CUWP is focusing on two approaches to recycling plastic waste. In thermal depolymerization, the plastic is broken down into a liquid oil which can then be catalyzed to separate out plastic monomers, the main components in new virgin plastic. The second focus is solvent-targeted recovery and precipitation (STRAP) processing, a technique that can be used to process and recycle layered plastic films. CUWP will also research new waste collection and sorting techniques and will develop new graduate and undergraduate curricula on plastic recycling. CPFD Software is an industrial partner of CUWP.
