About This Video
This video shows how Barracuda Virtual Reactor was leveraged by ThermChem Recovery International, USA (TRI) for the research, development, and scale-up of their novel waste-to-fuels technology.
The simulation results shown above are from TRI’s Process Demonstration Unit (PDU). Virtual Reactor was used to study the gas-particle hydrodynamics, heat transfer, moisture vaporization, volatile gas release, and multiphase chemical reactions for multiple feedstocks including biomass and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).
TRI’s gasification technology was most recently deployed at Fulcum BioEnergy’s Sierra BioFuels Plant near Reno, Nevada which produces approximately 11 million gallons of renewable, low-carbon transportation fuel annually from approximately 175,000 tons of landfill waste. The collaboration between CPFD Software and TRI was Highly Commended in the Process Automation and Digitalization category of the 2022 IChemE Global awards.
