Challenge
ThermoChem Recovery International, USA (TRI) sought to broaden their R&D while rapidly scaling their unique gasification technology for converting a diverse set of waste streams to fuels and products.
Solution
Virtual Reactor formed the heart of a digital syngas model that was applied to test, demonstration and commercial units. This ensured robust, scalable performance in spite of variability in biomass and municipal solid waste (MSW) feedstock properties.
Outcome
TRI’s technology was deployed at Fulcrum BioEnergy’s Sierra BioFuels Plant, which converts ~175,000 tons of landfill waste into renewable, transportation fuels with 80% lower carbon emissions.
