About This Video
This Arena-flow simulation visualizes the sand-core filling process for a Jacket Core using the Shell Module.
The video shows multiple perspectives of the same simulation to highlight sand-to-air dynamics and airflow behavior during core blowing.
Video layout:
- Left: Cope and drag filling with sand particles. The Sand Ratio color scale represents the local ratio of sand to cavity volume.
- Right upper: Cross-section through the plenum, invest, and core, illustrating sand inflow using the same Sand Ratio metric.
- Right lower: Air velocity and vector fields, indicating airflow strength and direction as air moves through and exhausts from the cavity.
The upper neck region exhibits a relatively high exhaust airflow, suggesting a possible inefficiency in a loss of pneumatic energy that could otherwise drive sand to the far ends of the core.
