TechnipFMC Published In November 2020 Issue of PTQ Revamps

November 18, 2020

In TechnipFMC and Suncor Energy's recent article, Modelling ensures a successful revamp, an FCC regenerator revamp at the Suncor Edmonton refinery is discussed, aimed to incorporate advanced design features to mitigate operational challenges and improve the mechanical reliability of the internals. This article describes how CPFD Software's proprietary software, Barracuda Virtual Reactor, was used to confirm the adequacy of the proposed hardware changes, fine-tune the design, and evaluate the performance to minimize risks on start-up. Post-turnaround performance of the unit confirms the benefit of the implemented design.

Congratulations to Raj Singh, Paul Marchant and Steve Shimoda with TechnipFMC Process Technology and Marc A. Secretan with Suncor Energy on their excellent work. We are proud that Virtual Reactor™ was able to support TechnipFMC's continued innovation.
