As 2023 draws to a close, we pause to remember and honor the life and legacy of Dale M. Snider, PhD, who passed away earlier this year.
Dale was the inventor of the three-dimensional, multiphase particle-in-cell (3D MP-PIC) numerical method and co-founder of the CPFD Software and Arena-flow companies.
Dale obtained his BSME from Arizona State University in 1969 followed by a MSME from Purdue University before working at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory on early CFD technology focused on two-phase flow for reactor accident analysis. Dale returned to formal studies earning a PhD from Texas A&M in the mid-1990s. After graduation he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory prior to becoming an independent consultant and eventually co-founding the companies which would become CPFD Software and Arena-flow.
The CPFD Software team is grateful for Dale’s unique contribution to the industries we serve and, for many of us, the opportunities he has provided us, professionally and personally. Read on below for memories from those who have known him the longest.
