This video, from the CFBC Application Model, shows the initial fluidization of particles in the riser as well as the distribution of coal particles in the system. A bed of ash particles is initialized in the first 0.4 meters of the riser, and a stable bed of ash, coal, and char is developed quickly after air is introduced into the system. Volatiles are released from the introduced coal particles quickly, and reactions involving the volatiles begin to occur.
