Barracuda Virtual Reactor Application Models provide users with ready-to-run simulation examples that demonstrate proven workflows across a wide range of industrial applications. These downloadable models serve as practical starting points for learning new capabilities, accelerating project development, and adapting validated approaches to real-world systems. This presentation begins with an overview of the application model library and its role in bridging the gap between software features and engineering practice. It then highlights several hydrogen production application models, including sorbent-enhanced steam methane reforming (SE-SMR), dry reforming of methane (DRM), and molten metal bubble column reactors (MMBCR), demonstrating how Barracuda Virtual Reactor captures the complex multiphase flow, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics required to evaluate emerging low-carbon hydrogen technologies. The presentation concludes with a demonstration of Barracuda Virtual Reactor’s liquid-solid capabilities through hydraulic fracturing and proppant transport simulations, illustrating the software’s ability to model non-Newtonian slurry flows and particle transport in upstream oil and gas applications.
About the Speaker
Shashank is Technical Director, Simulation Intelligence & Solutions Architecture at CPFD Software, responsible for broadening application areas for Barracuda Virtual Reactor. He has over 20 years’ experience in thermal-fluid and CFD applications, solving complex thermal-fluid problems in pipes, wellbores, porous structures, and other oil & gas applications. Shashank has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University.
