About This Video
This video shows Barracuda Virtual Reactor simulation results for the multiphase, gas-particle dynamics and thermochemistry inside a cement calciner as presented by Martin Weng from aixprocess during the 2022 Barracuda Virtual Reactor Users’ Conference. The project sought to reduce calciner CO emissions while concurrently reducing its carbon footprint though increased fuel substitution, replacing fossil sources with refuse-derived alternatives. After installation the plant confirmed that CO emissions were reduced over 70%, with a 22% increase in non-fossil fuel substitution. Return on investment was less than 6 month payback.
