CPFD Software is pleased to announce that Dr. Shashank Karra has joined our growing team as an Applications Development Manager. Shashank has over eighteen years’ experience in thermal-fluid sciences and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applications.
His experience includes roles at Baker Hughes, ANSYS, Pacific Northwest National Lab, Oregon State University and the University of Tennessee. Shashank provided technical support to CFD clients, researched and developed technical solutions for the energy industry, performed engineering consulting work, trained customers in using commercial software tools, assisted sales and marketing teams in expanding business, and communicating research and applications through conference presentations and publications. His experience in solving complex thermal-fluid problems using multiphase Euler-Euler, Euler-Lagrangian, Discrete Particle Method (DPM), porous media, and phase-change models in pipes, wellbores, porous structures, and for heavy oil applications puts him in a unique position to strengthen and broaden the application areas for Barracuda Virtual Reactor.
Shashank recently defended his PhD dissertation in Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State University on the topic of “Turbulent Flows over Permeable and Impermeable Sediment Beds: Pore-Resolved Simulations and Upscaled Modeling”. He also has a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science.
We look forward to working with Shashank and are excited for him to work with the global Barracuda Virtual Reactor user community, especially those with novel applications in the sustainability, renewables and decarbonization space.
