About This Video
This video demonstrates some of the new multiphase simulation capabilities for vapor/liquid/solid (VLS) systems available in Barracuda Virtual Reactor 22. The left view shows the 3D, transient motion of catalyst in an FCC riser. The right view shows the feed in the form of liquid droplets. The droplets transfer liquid mass to the catalyst through collisions, and all liquid (both in the droplets and on the surface of the wet catalyst particles) vaporizes to the gas phase. The Virtual Reactor 22 release contains new features including an evaporation model and other developments for systems including liquids such as liquid phase chemical reactions.
