8th World Congress on Particle Technology

January 10, 2018

CPFD Software is proud to be a sponsor for the 8th World Congress on Particle Technology from April 22nd - 26th, 2018 in Orlando, FL. During the Segregation and Mixing - Modeling, Simulations and Applications II session on Tuesday, April 24th, CPFD Software engineer, Matthew Hamilton has authored and will be presenting his paper titled:

CFD Simulation of Binary Mixture: Particle Segregation (4:10 PM - 4:30 PM ):

Particle mixtures occur often in combustion technologies, refining processes, polymerization processes, and other process. These particle mixtures result in a complex mixtures of varying particle densities, sizes, and shapes. In this paper, a mixture of 550 micron coal char and 183 micron sand were simulated in a 385 x 5 x 400 mm bed. Simulations were performed with Barracuda Virtual Reactor varying drag models and collisional models to match experimental data. Two velocities were looked at 5x and 8x the minimum fluidization. Barracuda Virtual Reactor was able to match experimental data.

Please note, there will be a number of CPFD Software employees in attendance. Come join us as we present and assist with sessions. To schedule a one-on-one meeting ahead of time, please contact us at Visit the AIChE website for more information on the 8th World Congress on Particle Technology.
