As the world pays more and more attention to energy security and environmental protection, finding a clean and efficient way to utilize energy has become an important issue. As a traditional energy source, pulverized coal will produce a large amount of carbon dioxide and other pollutants during its combustion process. As a renewable energy source, biomass has the advantage of zero carbon emissions, and the ash after combustion is rich in nutrients and can be used in agricultural and forestry production. Therefore, the blending of pulverized coal and biomass can reduce environmental pollution and promote sustainable development while ensuring energy supply. The blending of pulverized coal and biomass is mainly based on the complementary combustion characteristics of the two. Biomass has a high volatile content, a low ignition point, and is easy to burn; while pulverized coal has a high fixed carbon content, stable combustion but large pollutant emissions. After mixing the two in a certain proportion, the volatile matter of biomass can promote the ignition and combustion of pulverized coal and improve combustion efficiency; at the same time, the combustion stability of pulverized coal can make up for the fluctuations in the combustion process of biomass and reduce the occurrence of unstable phenomena such as flameout.
Barracuda is a simulation tool specifically designed for industrial-scale particle fluidization and chemical reactions. It can be used to simulate the process of coal powder and biomass blending to guide the design and optimization of related equipment, greatly accelerate the R&D process, and significantly reduce R&D costs and risks.
