Senior CFD Engineer: develop, design and optimize reactors and equipment using mechanical engineering principles; utilize knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer, materials engineering, and metallurgy to troubleshoot industrial fluidized bed reactors and fluid-particle process equipment; provide engineering services with a customer-centric focus, including the formulation of an appropriate framework to answer the customer’s question, research of appropriate reaction mechanisms, selection of empirical models, prudent use of assumptions, setting up simulations, engineering analysis and reporting; conduct case studies, feasibility studies, root cause analyses and provide design inputs, design verification and design validation; prepare technical proposals, reports and presentations for new and ongoing projects in addition to explaining project details and findings to clients, team members and stakeholders; work with software licensees to address challenges; answers questions including, but not limited to: basic product usage, simulation of the user’s system(s), potential for use on new applications, suggestions for model improvement or speed-up, post-processing guidance, and act as a customer’s initial contact for software bugs/crashes or other unexpected behavior; inform management when support requests indicate a renewal risk or sales opportunity; contribute to proactive customer support via the creation of support site posts; provide guidance on empirical model settings for classes of problems, and identify where technical improvements to the software or models should be considered; research to find and determine suitability of experimental data for verification, validation or calibration purposes, formulation and execution of simulations for comparison against experimental data, analysis of results, calibration of numerical and empirical models when possible, documentation and internal communication of findings; support the software development team from a customer-facing perspective; coordinate training class logistics; provide feedback on the effectiveness of training; provide support by creating technical material to be presented at conferences and published in scientific and trade journals; keep abreast of current developments in the industry and methodologies; and present at conferences and industry events. A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or computer science is required. 12 months of experience as a mechanical engineer is required. Mon-Fri; 40 hours/wk.
