The Fluids Engineering Division (FED) of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in 1926 as the Hydraulic Division of the Society. Following the advances and trends in the field, the name of the Division was changed to the Fluids Engineering Division (FED) in 1962. Nine years later, the Division launched its own journal, the Journal of Fluids Engineering, which is now considered as one of the leading journals in the subject of engineering applications of Fluid Mechanics. Every year FED organizes the Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting (FEDSM).
