PSRI Guest Webinar: The Importance of Knowing Your Cyclone’s FEC for Process Optimization – April 23rd, 2024
April 23 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT
The fractional efficiency curve (FEC) for an operating cyclone is one of the primary metrics that describes how the cyclone is performing. In this presentation we will discuss what the FEC is, how it is measured, and how it is utilized in cyclone design. PSRI will also discuss how the FEC not only directly impacts emissions but particle size distributions (PSDs) of the particulate matter in process systems. Many members of PSRI utilize cyclones in processes that utilize fluid beds and other mass circulations of particulate at the heart of those processes. In these types of circulating systems, the effects of the FEC are magnified resulting in the cyclone acting as primarily a “particle size control” device.
