Challenge
The Dyckerhoff Lengerich cement plant wanted to reduce calciner CO emissions while concurrently reducing its carbon footprint though increased fuel substitution, replacing fossil sources with refuse-derived alternatives.
Solution
Aixergee Process Optimization used Barracuda to understand the root cause of the issues. The insights were used to develop a novel retrofit and verify viability through virtual testing, ultimately providing the plant with confidence to proceed.
Outcome
After installation the plant confirmed that CO emissions were reduced over 70%, with a 22% increase in non-fossil fuel substitution. Return on investment was less than 6 month payback.
