CPFD Software Releases Barracuda Virtual Reactor 17.4
Albuquerque, NM – March 26, 2019 – CPFD Software is pleased to announce the release of Barracuda Virtual Reactor 17.4, engineering software for simulation and analysis of fluidized bed reactors and other gas-solid systems.
This latest release further improves speed-up and ease of use, allowing users to more quickly and easily simulate complex systems through enhanced project set-up and modification. New features include:
GPU Calculation of Volume-Average Chemistry
Virtual Reactor™ now calculates volume-average chemistry on the GPU. Timing tests show a significant speed increase over previous versions.
17.4.0 Timing Test Results |
User-Defined Chemical Reaction Rate Coefficients
Users are able to define reaction rate coefficients in a very powerful new way, adding a large degree of flexibility and new variables that can be used in rate coefficients, including time, location, particle residence time, relative velocity, and Reynolds number.
Output Raw Particle Data at Internal Flux Planes
Previously available only at boundary condition flux planes, this feature expands the output of raw particle data to internal Flux Planes.
With these features and other enhancements, CPFD Software continues to advance the speed, capability, and ease-of-use of Virtual Reactor. We carry on our commitment to helping engineers meet the challenges of designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of fluidized bed reactors and other industrial gas-solid systems.
Barracuda Virtual Reactor is specialized CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation software used by leading engineering service providers, OEMs and manufacturers worldwide in oil refining, petrochemical, energy, and minerals processing industries to design, troubleshoot and optimize industrial fluidized bed reactors (FBRs) – improving profitability and competitive advantage through improved equipment performance, lower warranty risk and rework, higher yields, lower operating costs and longer up-time.
Virtual Reactor software is recognized as providing a unique capability to model industrial FBRs at full-scale, changing how fluidized bed reactors are designed and optimized. Virtual Reactor is able to handle both the scale and complexity of FBRs by virtue of its proprietary modeling technology that, unlike other CFD methods, can effectively simulate gas-solid systems containing any number of particles with any particle size distribution. Barracuda Virtual Reactor is computationally efficient and exploits low-cost parallel computing hardware enabling customers to deploy the software without requiring investment in expensive high-performance computing resources.
About CPFD Software
CPFD Software is the leader in CFD simulation of large-scale gas-particle systems. We are highly focused on providing engineering simulation software tools and solutions to industry. Our software is designed specifically for use in engineering design and optimization of fluidized bed reactors, one of the most widely used processes in oil refining and manufacture of petrochemicals, and also in the clean energy sector in production of electricity, gas and liquid fuels from coal and biomass. The core technology also has application in many other industries, helping in reduction of energy costs and emissions and improvement of process efficiency and profitability.
