SUMMARY:PSRI - Webinar: Introduction to WebTools 2.0 June 8\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Over the last several decades\, numerous correlations have been developed at PSRI that predict various hydrodynamic properties in a fluidized bed system\, including the PSRI entrainment correlation\, cyclone design tool\, cyclone pressure drops calculator\, cyclone grade efficiency correlation\, jet penetration lengths correlations\, and tools for grid design.    Many of these correlations have numerous complex calculations valid within a specific range. Some of these features have been available to members\, with limits\, in PSRI’s webtool platform.  Now\, PSRI is introducing webTools 2.0\, which features an improved interface with an interactive user experience that carries out all the complex calculations behind the scenes using PSRI’s new calculation engine. Some of the key features of this new tool are as follows: \n\nAbility to upload and download data and results\,\nSort and search in tables\,\nDrag and drop data sets in a table\,\nIntegrated tools in one single application that makes it easier to navigate between tabs\, and\nInteractive plots – Hover\, zoom in / out\, pan\, etc.\n\nThis webinar will demo the new webtool’s platform and detail all the new features accessible from any modern web browser\, phone\, or tablet. He was recognized as one of the top inventors in the history of Shell Houston Technology Center. He was the technology manager and licensing manager for a new biofuel process. \n‍Dr. Chen had worked on a vast array of fluid-particle\, multi-phase processes: \n• Led the development of an evolutional bio-to-renewable fuel process from lab scale to successful semi-commercial demonstration. DESCRIPTION:Beginning with work in high pressure fluidization in the 1980’s with Al Weimer\, Karl has spent nearly the last 40 years working on all manner of particle technology problems ranging from processing of bulk plastics to the production of fine chemicals to the processing of biomass and recycled plastics. In 1989\, he founded Dow’s Solids Processing Lab and for the next 30 years provided technical leadership for the lab. He has particular expertise in particle design\, pneumatic conveying\, flow of solids and drying. During his talk\, Karl will provide a synopsis of his broad particle technology background with specific emphasis on a few special problems encountered during his industrial career.
