DESCRIPTION:Dr. Ye-Mon Chen has over 38 years of combined academia and industry career\, including extensive experience in FCC technology and licensing business at Shell. He is the recipient of the AIChE Dow Fluidization Process Recognition and the AIChE PSRI Lectureship Awards\, among other recognitions. He was recognized as one of the top inventors in the history of Shell Houston Technology Center. He was the technology manager and licensing manager for a new biofuel process. \n‍Dr. Chen had worked on a vast array of fluid-particle\, multi-phase processes: \n• Led the development of an evolutional bio-to-renewable fuel process from lab scale to successful semi-commercial demonstration. It is ready for commercialization\, \n• Led successful development and patenting of many Shell FCC technologies\, including technologies related to feed nozzle\, catalyst circulation\, stripper cyclones\, TSS\, and NOx reduction\, \n• Built the Shell FCC licensing business from the ground up to a sustainable business\, and \n• Led many successful commercial designs of complex multi-phase reactor systems. \nDr. Chen brings PSRI world-class technical expertise in: \n• Multiphase flow \n• FCC process and operation\, \n• Feed injection nozzles\, \n• Standpipe and catalyst circulation\, \n• Cyclones and third stage separator\, and \n• Bio-to-renewable fuel\, and other complex multi-phase chemical/refining processes \nThis Webinar will start at 9 AM Central Time and be presented via ZOOM. DESCRIPTION:Beginning with work in high pressure fluidization in the 1980’s with Al Weimer\, Karl has spent nearly the last 40 years working on all manner of particle technology problems ranging from processing of bulk plastics to the production of fine chemicals to the processing of biomass and recycled plastics. In 1989\, he founded Dow’s Solids Processing Lab and for the next 30 years provided technical leadership for the lab. He has particular expertise in particle design\, pneumatic conveying\, flow of solids and drying. During his talk\, Karl will provide a synopsis of his broad particle technology background with specific emphasis on a few special problems encountered during his industrial career. Presently\, Karl is a lecturer in particle technology at the University of Michigan\, Ann Arbor and assists with the senior chemical engineering design class. \nThis Webinar will start at 9 AM Central Time and be presented via ZOOM.
